MATERIALS
Chosen for their physical & spiritual properties, beauty, and timeless quality.
SILVER
A lustrous white element, silver is the most reflective and conductive metal on earth. It has been used for centuries for its antimicrobial properties and to support the circulatory system. Silver is hypoallergenic for almost everyone. Our designs use a minimum of sterling (rather than plated) for its durability and lasting value.
STERLING |
Sterling is 92.5% silver, making It less prone to tarnish, especially when worn regularly. |
ARGENTIUM |
Argentium is made up of 94% silver. With a higher silver content than sterling, Argentium is slightly softer but also brighter. |
THAI & KAREN HILL TRIBE SILVER |
Karen Hill tribes oinnorthern Thailand have been silversmithing by hand for generations, and their work is now a primary source of income. Due to the high silver content, their beads and charms can be especially bright, or intentionally oxidized to highlight the design. Their pieces often have tiny imprints of leaves, blossoms, or other symbols aligned with the natural world. |
GOLD
Gold is believed to amplify the spiritual properties of the materials it supports.
GOLD FILLED 14K |
Our yellow gold jewelry is always gold-filled rather than gold plated. We prefer gold filled as the color does not wear away. Gold filled jewelry is also hypoallergenic for most, and stronger than solid gold (a very soft metal). |
ANTIQUED GOLD |
Antiqued gold pieces will be oxidized brass or steel. Brass has been used for millennia in jewelry and is hypoallergenic for most wearers. We take care to avoid alloys with nickel, which is the most likely of all to trigger allergies. |
STAINLESS STEEL
Steel is often used in surgeries precisely because it is hypoallergenic. It will not tarnish (hence the name), and is second in strength only to tungsten. These qualities make stainless steel an excellent metal for clasps and ear hooks.
BRASS
Some of our designs have a jet-black, matte black, or antiqued metallic look, which rely on the use of brass or oxidation of steel. Brass has been used for millennia for its strength and workability, and many people have no problem wearing it. However, as an alloy of copper and zinc, brass can sometimes have trace metals, so those with allergies should avoid this metal.
SILK
Silk is the strongest natural fiber (even stronger than steel by diameter). The Chinese identified and refined the use of silk thousands of years ago, and it remains the most beautiful and functional fiber on the market. We use silk in some of our designs for its strength, incredible sheen, anti-allergen properties, and timeless quality & value. Silk should not be work during exercise or while bathing or showering.
BEADS
Crafted, worn, and traded as currency for millennia, beads are small, timeless pieces of human art. Beads date as far back to Neanderthal use, and have surfaced as adornment and for spiritual use independently on all continents and within all civilizations.
